PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tablet printing device and tablet printing method which can continue printing processing to tablets even if an abnormality occurs in a nozzle.SOLUTION: A tablet printing device images the surface of a tablet 9 on the downstream side in the conveyance direction with respect to a head 521, detects the presence/absence of an abnormality in a nozzle 522 on the basis of the obtained image, relatively moves the head 521 in the width direction with respect to the tablet 9 when detecting the abnormality of the nozzle 522, and switches the nozzle 522 discharging ink to the tablet 9 from the nozzle 522 in which the abnormality occurs to another nozzle 522. With this configuration, even if the abnormality occurs in the nozzle 522, printing processing to the tablet 9 can be continued.
