Provided herein is an end effector for a surgical device, the end effector comprising: a housing having an outer wall and an opening therein and first and second opposing walls extending along opposite sides of the opening； a first actuator pivotally coupled to the first wall of the housing； a second actuator pivotally coupled to the second wall of the housing； and a coupler disposed within the opening of the housing between at least a portion of the first actuator and at least a portion of the second actuator, the coupler including opposing first and second ends, each end pivotally coupled to a different one of the first and second actuators. To operate the actuator, a mechanism is provided for controllably moving a wire within the flexible tubular member, the wire including opposing wire ends extending outwardly of the proximal end of the flexible tubular member and a portion of the actuator connected to the end effector between the wire ends, and the mechanism including a drive mechanism and a coupler extending between the drive mechanism and the wire ends, wherein movement of the coupler in the direction of the wire ends causes relative motion of the wire ends.
