The present invention relates to a medical suture having a circular cross-sectional shape and a method for producing the medical suture, and more specifically, to a method for producing a medical suture comprising: a first step of injecting raw material of the medical suture into a mold comprised of a mold groove part and a slide mold insertion part a second step of coupling a slide mold such that slide mold protrusions are inserted into the slide mold insertion part a third step of injection molding a medical suture having groove parts and protrusion parts formed in the surface thereof through the first step and the second step a fourth step of stretching the raw material of the medical suture at temperature conditions of a melting point or less and a glass transition temperature or more, and the melting point or less of the raw material of the medical suture a fifth step of performing a heat treatment process of the stretched medical suture using nitrogen or argon gas to remove residual moisture within the medical suture, and the medical suture produced by the method. A method for producing a medical suture according to the present invention has an effect of easily causing physical stimulus and increasing productivity and operation efficiency by forming grooves and protrusions having appropriate strength and flexibility in the surface of the medical suture, thereby enabling the protrusions to fix and move the tissues in a direction opposite to an inserting direction of the medical suture when inserting the medical suture into tissues of a human body, and the method has an effect that a time consumed when absorbing the medical suture into a human body is constant by forming the protrusions in a side of the medical suture opposite to that of the medical suture in which the grooves are formed. Further, a method for producing a medical suture according to the present invention is capable of minimizing time and process which are required for producing the medical sutur
