The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an extract of magnolia officinalis with an extract of magnolia liliflora as active ingredients for stimulating growth of dental root and peridental tissues, or for preventing or treating periodontitis. Particularly, it is shown that a mixture of an extract of magnolia officinalis with an extract of magnolia liliflora inhibits activity of nitric oxide (NO) derived with LPS in Raw264.7 cells, inhibits activity of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) to suppress differentiation of osteoclasts, and increases activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in MC3T3 cells to stimulate differentiation of osteoblasts. In addition, it is shown that the mixture shows a high cell growth rate and ALP activity in human peridental ligament cells, and stimulates growth of dental roots and peridental tissues abstracted from mice. Thus, the mixture of an extract of magnolia officinalis with an extract of magnolia liliflora according to the present invention can be used advisably as a composition for stimulating growth of dental roots/ peridental tissues, a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating periodontitis, a quasi-drug composition for stimulating growth of dental roots/ peridental tissues or improving periodontitis, a health-aid food for stimulating growth of dental roots/ peridental tissues or improving periodontitis, and a cosmetic composition for stimulating growth of dental roots/ peridental tissues or improving periodontitis.본 발명은 후박 추출물 및 신이 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 치근 및 치주조직 성장 촉진용, 또는 치주염 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로 후박 추출물 및 신이 추출물의 혼합물은 Raw264.7 세포에서 LPS로 유도된 NO(nitric oxide)의 활성을 억제하고, TRAP(Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase) 활성을 억제하여 파골세포 분화를 억제하였으며, MC3T3 세포에서 ALP(alkaline phosphatase)활성을 증가시킴으로써 조골세포 분화 촉진을 확인하였다. 또한, 사람 치주인대세포에서 우수한 세포 증식률 및 ALP 활성을 나타냄을 확인하였고, 마우스로부터 적출한 치근 및 지주조직 성장이 촉진되는 것을 확인함으로써, 본 발명의 후박 추출물 및 신이 추출물의 혼합물은 치근/치주조직 성장 촉진용 조성물, 치주염의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물, 치근/치주조직 성장
