A method for reducing the incidence of ARIA in susceptible Alzheimer's disease patients during an AD treatment protocol. The present invention helps meet these needs in the art by providing a method of treating a human patient with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The method comprises sequentially administering multiple doses of recombinant, fully human, anti-amyloid β monoclonal antibody. In a preferred embodiment, the antibody is administered to the patient in increasing amounts over a period of time. In a preferred embodiment, the method of the invention reduces brain amyloid accumulation. In a further preferred embodiment, the method of the invention reduces the patient's susceptibility to ARIA.
