Provided is a power conversion device for a railroad vehicle with which the amount of electromagnetic noise emitted, and particularly the amount of electromagnetic noise emitted below the vehicle body, which is a problem unique to power conversion devices for railroad vehicles, is reduced without causing an increase in the weight of the entire device or a reduction in rigging space. This power conversion device for a railroad vehicle includes: a housing that is installed under the floor of a railroad vehicle, has an opening part in a side surface, and is covered with a coating; a cover that covers the opening part and is covered with a coating; bolts that fasten the cover to the side surface of the housing in a plurality of locations; and a power converter and electrical apparatus accommodated by the housing and the cover, wherein the cover is electrically connected to the housing in a plurality of locations. The locations where the cover and the housing are electrically connected are below the cover.
