Provided are an acceleration suppression device for a vehicle and an acceleration suppression method for a vehicle that can reduce a reduction in drivability due to the operation of an acceleration suppression control while crossing an intersection. If it is determined that an intersection lying ahead of an own vehicle is detected, a process is implemented to suppress an acceleration suppression control in a travel distance range in which the travel distance of the own vehicle after detecting the intersection is less than or equal to a preset first travel distance threshold value.
