PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer sheet in which a support base material can be easily peeled from a thin film layer in transferring a thin film layer and to provide a method for transferring a thin film layer.SOLUTION: There is provided a transfer sheet comprising a thin film layer and a support base material for supporting the thin film layer which is composed of a fiber material and has liquid absorbency. After liquid absorption of the support base material, the size of an average fiber diameter of fibers Fi constituting the support base material is 105% or more than that before the liquid absorption.
