A medical image processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit having a function of acquiring volume data including an organ, and an area processing unit having a function of performing a process regarding division of an organ into areas. The area processing unit has a function of acquiring the first tree structure included in the organ, a function of acquiring the second tree structure included in the organ, and the first tree structure and the second tree structure. Based on, the organ has a function of generating a plurality of divided first areas. At least some of the branches of the first tree structure run in the center of the plurality of first areas.
