The present invention provides a garment (20 20a 20b) for an animal having a first pair of appendages and a second pair of appendages, the animal having a mid-body between the first pair of appendages and the second pair of appendages. The garment comprises a central portion (24) having a longitudinal axis (A-A) and a front end, wherein a first side extends laterally in a first direction from the longitudinal axis, and a second side extends laterally in a second direction from the longitudinal axis, and the second direction is opposite the first direction. The garment further comprises a first flap (30) extending from the first side of the central portion (24), a second flap (32) extending from the second side of the central portion (24), and a top flap (34) having a proximate end attached to the central portion (24), the first flap (30), or the second flap (32) and extending to a free distal end. The first and second flaps (30, 32) are adapted to extend around the animals mid-body and fasten to each other such that the central portion (24) and the fastened first and second flaps (30, 32) form a shape conforming to the outside of the animals mid-body to form a sleeve, and the top flap (34) is adapted to extend at least partially around the sleeve and to fasten to the central portion (24), the first flap (30), the second flap (32), or a combination thereof to further tighten the garment to apply pressure to the animal.
