A bale wrapper apparatus (2) includes a table (4) for supporting a bale (8) during a wrapping process and a loading device for loading a bale (8) onto the table (4). The loading device is configured for movement between a pick-up position, a carrying position and a loading position. A control system is provided to control operation of the loading device, the control system including a control unit (40), a bale sensor (42) for sensing a bale (8) on the loading device and a detector (44) for detecting whether the table (4) is ready to receive a bale (8). The control unit (40) is configured such that when the bale sensor (42) senses a bale (8) on the loading device with loading device in the pick-up position (a) if the table (4) is not ready to receive a bale (8), the loading device is brought to the carrying position, and (b) if the table (4) is ready to receive a bale (8), the loading device is brought to the loading position.
