PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polylactic acid nonwoven fabric composed of an extra fine monofilament having a bactericidal property.SOLUTION: A polylactic acid nonwoven fabric 8 is formed by: setting an original monofilament 2, which is directly formed from a poly-L-lactic acid raw material 1 alone without using any chemical formulation other than the poly-L-lactic acid 1, to a drawing apparatus； irradiating the original monofilament 2 with a light beam bundle 3 to melt and draw it to form an extra fine monofilament 5 having a thickness of 1.2 &mu；m or less； dropping the extra fine monofilament 5 so as to draw a circle on a pedestal 7 laterally moved (here, horizontally moved) by a pedestal drive unit 6； and arranging and laminating the circles at a regular interval.
