The position sensor 4 is disposed on the irradiation central axis C of one ultrasonic beam irradiated from the single-type vibrator 3 inside the housing 2 in the longitudinal direction. Further, the position sensor 4 detects the direction of the ultrasonic beam irradiated from the transducer 3 and its own transmission position. The one-dimensional image information obtained by the irradiation of the ultrasonic beam and the direction and the transmission position of the ultrasonic beam detected by the position sensor are transmitted to the image display device via the cable 5.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION【課題】超音波プローブ装置の小型化と操作性の向上を図る。【解決手段】画像表示装置に情報を送信する超音波プローブ装置1は、筐体2と、シングル型の振動子3と、位置センサ4とを有する。筐体2は、略筒形状を有する。振動子3は、筐体2の先端に配置されている。位置センサ4は、筐体2の長手方向の内部において、シングル型の振動子3より照射される1本の超音波ビームの照射中心軸C上に配置されている。また、位置センサ4は、振動子3より照射される超音波ビームの方向および自己の送信位置を検出する。超音波ビームの照射によって得られた一次元の画像情報と、位置センサによって検出された超音波ビームの方向および送信位置とは、ケーブル5を介して、画像表示装置に送信される。【選択図】図1
