The present invention relates to a new peptide called Antisecretory Factor (AF) 17 which is an isolated recombinant and/or synthetically produced which has a t1/2 of at least 1.8h. The peptide is e.g. useful for normalizing pathological fluid transport and/or inflammatory reactions in animals and in humans. AF-17 and pharmaceutical compositions of AF-17 can e.g. be used for treating and/ or preventing TBI and/or secondary brain injuries associated with TBI, as well as for treating and/ or preventing acquired brain injuries and to optimize cancer treatment.La presente invención se refiere a un nuevo péptido llamado factor anti-secretor (AF) 17 que es un recombinante aislado y/o sintéticamente producido que tiene una t1/2 de al menos 1.8h. El péptido es por ejemplo útil para normalizar el transporte de fluido patológico y/o reacciones inflamatorias en animales y en humanos. El AF-17 y las composiciones farmacéuticas de AF-17 por ejemplo se pueden utilizar para tratar y/o prevenir TBI y/o lesiones cerebrales secundarias asociadas con TBI, así como tratar y/o prevenir lesiones cerebrales adquiridas y optimizar el tratamiento contra el cáncer.
