The present invention provides an improved medical restriction device that iseasier to manipulate during application thereof. The device includes a tip asaninlet guide at a first end of a longitudinal element which comprises areinforcingcore of rigid material. An opening at the second end of the longitudinalelementforms part of the closure device. In combination with the opening, the tiptogether with the first end of the longitudinal element more easily passesthroughthe opening at the second end in order to lock the restriction device in apredetermined or selectable position when the closure device is in the closedposition. Advantageously, due to the tip provided with a reinforcing core, therestriction device can be passed better around the hollow organ and can moreeasily penetrate the elastic and fibrous connective tissue surrounding aholloworgan and holding the same in position.
