The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting an oxidative damage of DNA by using excellent antioxidative activity of an extract of inner and outer shells of chestnuts. The present invention also relates to a method for using the effects of the extract of inner and outer shells of chestnuts by applying the composition to various fields, such as pharmaceuticals, health-aids and food additives. According to the present invention, the extract of inner and outer shells of chestnuts shows antioxidative activity for DNA which causes an oxidative damage in vitro to inhibit an oxidative damage of DNA so that DNA is restored in a concentration-dependent manner. In addition, according to the present invention, the effect of the extract of inner and outer shells of chestnuts upon inhibition of an oxidative damage of DNA is useful for providing a functional food material and a pharmaceutical composition which show strong antioxidative activity against diseases resulting from an in vivo oxidative damage caused by active oxygen.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016본 발명의 목적은, 밤의 내피 및 외피로부터의 추출물이 나타내는 탁월한 항산화 활성을 이용함으로써, DNA의 산화적 손상을 억제할 수 있는 조성물을 제공함에 있다. 또한 이러한 조성물을 의약품, 건강보조제 및 식품첨가제 등의 여러 분야에 활용함으로써 밤 내피 및 외피의 효능을 다방면에 활용할 수 있는 방법을 제공함에 있다.상기와 같은 본 발명에 따르면, 밤의 내피 및 외피 추출물은 생체 외에서 산화적 손상을 유발한 DNA에 대하여 항산화 작용을 나타냄으로써, DNA의 산화적 손상을 억제하여 추출물 농도의존적으로 복원하는 효과가 있다.또한 본 발명에 따르면, 밤의 내피 및 외피 추출물의 DNA 산화적 손상 억제 효능을 이용함으로써, 활성산소에 의한 체내 산화적 손상으로부터 발생하는 질병에 대하여 강한 항산화 활성을 나타내는 기능성 식품원료 및 약학적 조성물로 이용할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
