In the case of a motion picture photographing mode, transmission/reception is performed with single focus, and multi-line processing is performed based on received element data. Thereafter, image processing is performed, and a moving image of an ultrasonic image is displayed or a sound velocity value is calculated. In the case of a still picture photographing mode, transmission/reception is performed with multi-focus, and phasing addition processing and the like are performed on received element data. Thereafter, image processing is performed, and a still image of an ultrasonic image is displayed or a sound velocity value is calculated.
