Disclsoed herein is a micronutrient supplement that comprises crystals of a basic salt of at least one essential mineral which crystals are agglomerated with a digestible binder such as starch to form digestible agglomerated particles, wherein the size of the crystals is from about 0.1 to about 20 microns and the size of the digestible agglomerated particles is from about 50 to about 300 microns. Also disclosed is a method for the production of such compositions.
