PURPOSE: A composition containing an astragalin derivative is provided to suppress MMP-1 expression and to suppress melanogenesis.CONSTITUTION: An astragalin derivative is denoted by chemical formula 1. The derivative is prepared by adding glycosyltransferase to a solution containing 0.01-1.0 M of sucrose such that the final active concentration is 0.1-100 U/ml, adding astragalin in a reactor at 15-70deg. C. The glycosyltransferase is Leuconostoc mesenteroides-derived dextran sucrase. A composition for enhancing antioxidant activity contains the derivative as an active ingredient. A composition for skin whitening contains the derivative as an active ingredient.
