Disclosed in embodiments of the present application are a root virus removal method and apparatus, and an electronic device. The method comprises: detecting, according to a preset virus database, whether a file having a characteristic of a virus having a root permission exists in a smart device; when the file having the characteristic of the virus having the root permission is detected, obtaining a root permission of a system; turning off all processes corresponding to the detected file having the characteristic of the virus having the root permission; recovering a system startup item to a state before the virus having the root permission invades; and deleting all detected files having characteristics of viruses having root permissions. Compared with the prior art, the embodiments of the present application enable viruses having root permissions to be checked and killed more completely.
