PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination apparatus for raising plants and a plant raising method which promote photosynthesis of plants and by which plants grow well.SOLUTION: An illumination apparatus for raising plants comprises: a red LED having an emission wavelength between 600 and 680 nm； and a far-red LED or an infrared LED having an emission wavelength between 700 and 900 nm, and is capable of radiating red light emitted from the red LED and far-red light emitted from the far-red LED or infrared light emitted from the infrared LED alternately in a pulse state.【課題】 植物の光合成を促進させ、植物がよく育つ植物育成用照明装置及び植物育成方法を提供する。【解決手段】 ６００～６８０ｎｍの間に発光波長を持つ赤色ＬＥＤと、７００～９００ｎｍの間に発光波長を持つ遠赤色ＬＥＤ又は赤外ＬＥＤを具備するものであり、前記赤色ＬＥＤが発する赤色光と、前記遠赤色ＬＥＤが発する遠赤色光又は前記赤外ＬＥＤが発する赤外光とをパルス状に交互に照射できるものであることを特徴とする植物育成用照明装置。【選択図】 図１
