PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer compound having a sufficient virus-capturing capability in which natural sugars are not used in order to solve such a problem that the conventional techniques using natural sugars have not always produced polymer compounds having a stable virus-capturing capability, because the composition of the obtained polymer compounds is variable and the polymer compounds do not show a sufficient virus-capturing capability.SOLUTION: The polymer compound includes a sugar having a glucosamine skeleton fixed in the compound. The virus-capturing polymer includes a polyamide derivative expressed by formula (1): (X represents an arylene group； Y represents OH or NH； at least one of R-Rrepresents SOH.
