Disclosed is a device for detecting a characteristic nature of a coal on-line, comprising a pulverized coal sampling subsystem (100), a coal briquette press subsystem (200) and a spectrum collection and analysis subsystem (300). The device for detecting the characteristic nature of the coal on-line firstly uses the pulverized coal sampling subsystem (100) to obtain pulverized coal of low-rank coal from a blast pipe (1) installed between an outlet of a coal pulverizer and an inlet of a burner of a coal-fired generator, then uses the coal briquette press subsystem (200) to press the pulverized coal into a coal briquette meeting a measurement requirement, and then uses the spectrum collection and analysis subsystem (300) to detect the characteristic nature of the coal briquette.
