An artificial cervical fluid containing a mucus extract from an okra plant is disclosed. A mucus extract can be produced using a hot aqueous extractant or separation of large particles from the extract after a cold extraction process. Extracts have many uses, for example, as sperm storage media, sperm freezing media, sexual lubricants, artificial insemination media, and in vitro fertilization media.
