A mower that is able to follow contours in the ground is disclosed. The mower is formed so that it can be secured to, and moved along the ground, by a motor vehicle (7) such as an agricultural tractor. Ground engaging means (3) run along the ground so the blade(s) (2) can mow vegetation at about ground level. The main structure (1) of the mower, ground engaging means (3) and blade (2) are able to pivot with respect to the vehicle mounting structure (5) via connection means (4, 8). This provides a measure of protection against the blade(s) hitting the ground in the event the mower is moved by the vehicle on uneven terrain. The connection means may comprise pins (8) running in slots (4) which is particularly suited for a mower which is mounted at the front of the vehicle.
