PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article that uses a non-woven fabric comprising cotton as a surface sheet and is unlikely to cause a wearer to feel uncomfortable, that is, unlikely to cause a wearer to sense a wet state or feel stuffy or the like.SOLUTION: The absorbent article has a surface sheet that is of a non-woven fabric composed of at least two fiber layers including a first fiber layer which comprises cotton and thermoplastic resin fibers, and a second fiber layer which comprises hydrophobic thermoplastic resin fibers. The non-woven fabric has: a first surface that is the surface on the side facing the skin and is formed by the second fiber layer and a second surface that is the surface on the side not facing the skin and faces an absorbent body. The non-woven fabric is provided with a plurality of protruded sections protruded toward the first surface, and a plurality of recessed sections that are provided between adjacent protruded sections and recessed toward the second surface.
