PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substance effective for alleviating dry eye and asthenopia.SOLUTION: The invention provides: lacrimation promoters, preventive and improving agents for asthenopia, or preventive and improving agents for decreased accommodation ability of eyes, containing Aspalathus linearis extract or compositions for promoting lacrimation, preventing and improving asthenopia, or preventing and improving decreased accommodation ability of eyes, containing any of the above agents as an active ingredient and a method for imparting at least one action selected from the group consisting of an action for promoting lacrimation, or an action for preventing and improving asthenopia, and an action for preventing and improving decreased accommodation ability of eyes, comprising adding Aspalathus linearis extract to foods.
