PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mucous membrane application ointment of high convenience (feeling of use) which is excellently adhesive to a mucous membrane to be applied, but hardly adhesive to a mucous membrane except an application site.SOLUTION: An ointment containing at least one of mucous membrane adhesion polymers selected from carboxymethyl cellulose sodium and sodium polyacrylate, 5-50% by mass of sugar alcohol and an oleaginous base is found property that a surface becomes smooth when the ointment surface is wetted by moisture. Thus, disclosed is a mucous membrane application ointment characterized by containing at least one of mucous membrane adhesion polymers selected from carboxymethyl cellulose sodium and sodium polyacrylate, 5-50% by mass of sugar alcohol and an oleaginous base. Preferably the sugar alcohol is xylitol, sorbitol, mannitol, or erythritol.【課題】本発明は、適用する粘膜への付着性に優れ、かつ、適用箇所以外の粘膜へは付着しにくい、利便性（使用感）の高い粘膜適用軟膏を提供することを課題とする。【解決手段】カルボキシメチルセルロースナトリウム及びポリアクリル酸ナトリウムから選択される少なくとも１種の粘膜付着性高分子、５～５０質量％の糖アルコール及び油性基剤を含有する軟膏は、軟膏表面が水分で濡れるとき表面が滑らかになる性質を見出した。すなわち、カルボキシメチルセルロースナトリウム及びポリアクリル酸ナトリウムから選択される少なくとも１種の粘膜付着性高分子、５～５０質量％の糖アルコール及び油性基剤を含有することを特徴とする粘膜適用軟膏である。糖アルコールは、キシリトール、ソルビトール、マンニトール又はエリスリトールが好ましい。【選択図】なし
