A new fertilizer composed of calcium sulfate and elemental sulfur, with total sulfur analysis ranging from 30 - 50%. The new fertilizer will contain both sulfur in the sulfate form for prompt uptake by the crop, along with elemental sulfur which will slowly convert to sulfate sulfur, providing season-long crop nutrition. The new fertilizer will deliver improved environmental benefits by reducing nitrogen runoff that can occur from the use of ammonium sulfate. It will also deliver economic benefits for farmers because they are not paying for nitrogen in ammonium sulfate that will likely not be available for the needs of their spring crop. A manufacturing process that safely and economically sources and adds elemental sulfur to synthetic gypsum prior to being formed into pellets via an extruder, agglomerator or briquetter.
