The potato-crushing mechanism prevents re-germination of tubers not worth harvesting, having two rollers, one of which is profiled, spring-loaded and with the gap between them adjustable. The rollers run against each other and are driven at different speeds, one having a smooth surface and the other being profiled by means of a profiled portion wound around it in a helical pattern (7). This portion can be a round bar of not less than 5mm. diameter, wound in a spiral round the roller (2) and fixed to it.
