The application concerns the field of measuring the density of a sample (10), notably for evaluating the relative amount of a first component and a second component in the sample. For this, optical measuring of the index is known but such kind of measurement implies drying the sample. There is therefore a need for a device that can be used in vivo and that can achieve a plurality of different measurements. Such versatility is provided by a device (12) comprising: a first detector (20) adapted to measure the sample (10) absorption of a first light beam (Fl) with one first wavelength comprised between 200 nanometers and 300 nanometers, a second detector (22) adapted to measure the sample (10) absorption of a second light beam (F2) with one second wavelength comprised between 700 nanometers and 3500 nanometers, and a calculator (24) adapted to obtain the relative amounts of the first component and the second component in the sample (10) by using the first and second measured absorptions.
