The present invention relates to pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment or the prevention of a Staphylococcal infection. They contain at least one polypeptide epitope, wherein said at least one polypeptide epitope induces protective antibodies in a patient in need thereof. The polypeptide epitopes according to the present invention can preferably be used for the preparation of a vaccine against a Staphylococcal infection, such as Staphylococcus aureus, including Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The present invention further relates to monoclonal antibodies capable of recognizing and binding to a polypeptide epitope according to the present invention, and the invention also relates to the use of the monoclonal antibodies for diagnosis and the prevention or therapy Staphylococcal infection, including MRSA.
