By acquiring two MRI images reflecting different properties of the blood vessel and determining the difference between the two images, an image in which the blood vessel wall is automatically divided can be obtained. This can image both the inner and outer walls of the blood vessel, thereby obtaining the correct blood vessel size and thickness between the outer and inner walls of the blood vessel.
