PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device suitable for a blood vessel pattern image input means in a personal authentication device using a blood vessel pattern of a finger.SOLUTION: A compound eye image being an aggregate of reduced images (ommatidium images) of a blood vessel 2 (object) of a finger 1 with a position specified by being brought into contact with a surface of a transparent flat plate 10 is imaged by being focused on an imaging surface of an imaging element 6 by a plurality of lenses constituting a lens eye 2. An air layer 11 is formed between the transparent flat plate 10 and the lens eye 3.
