The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food composition for preventing or treating pulmonary fibrosis comprising fucoxanthin as an active ingredient. The fucoxanthin inhibits phosphorylation of specific enzymes, blocks a signal transduction pathway and inhibits expression of pulmonary fibrosis marker proteins and secretion of cytokine. Accordingly, a pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food composition comprising the fucoxanthin are capable of effectively preventing, treating or alleviating pulmonary fibrosis.본 발명은 푸코잔틴을 유효성분으로 함유하는 폐섬유화증 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물 및 건강기능식품 조성물에 관한 것으로, 상기 푸코잔틴은 특정 효소의 인산화를 억제하여 신호 전달 경로를 차단함으로써 폐섬유화증 표지 단백질의 발현 및 사이토카인의 분비를 억제할 수 있으므로, 상기 푸코잔틴을 포함하는 약학 조성물 및 건강기능식품 조성물은 폐섬유화증을 효과적으로 예방, 치료 또는 개선할 수 있다.
