PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive, daily ingestible rice food or drink with a selected lactic acid bacterium strain suitable for the fermentation of rice and giving high characteristics (survivability, flavor and palatability of the lactic acid bacterium strain), when the rice is fermented, in order to obtain the food or drink having the functions of the lactic acid bacterium from the rice as a raw material.

SOLUTION: The rice food or drink is obtained by fermenting rice with a lactic acid bacterium belonging to Lactobacillus sp. FPL1 (NITE AP-691) which is high in gastric acid resistance, good in growth at low pH, high in bile resistance, and good in growth in rice or rice saccharification product, and gives excellent flavor and palatability, after fermentation.
