PURPOSE:To enable the evaluation of application properties corresponding to an actual environment, by supplying an arithficial sea wager and a soluble salt aqueous solution or the like to the surface of a test piece previously given a tension while the test piece is heated to accelerate the accumulation of a solid material such as salt. CONSTITUTION:When carrying out an evaluation test of stress corrosion cracking resistance, first, after the surface of a test piece 1 is ground, one end thereof is fixed while the other end thereof is linked to a stress loader comprising a load cell 3 and an air cylinder 4. Then, after a stress level is set as desired, the test piece 1 is heated at a specified heat cycle with a heater 6 being controlled with a temperature controller. On the other hand, a test liquid in which a solid material with the diameter below 500mum is dispersed in an artificial sea water and a soluble salt aqueous solution or an aqueous solution, as supplied from a test liquid supply system 2 is fed to the surface of the test piece 1 continuosly of intermittently in an amount and at an interval as desired from a nozzle 8 to fracture it. This enables the evaluation of the generation and propagation of a cracking in a manner highly resembling the progress of a stress corrosion cracking in natural conditions or under conditions of practical environment.
