The proposed invention is related to medicine and pharmaceutical industry and concerns a method of producing 6-methyl-2-ethylpyridine-3-ol salt of (2S)-2-acetaminopentanedioic acid used as an active agent in medicinal preparations. Proposed is a method of producing 6-methyl-2-ethylpyridine-3-ol salt of (2S)-2-acetaminopentanedioic acid, comprising running a salt-formation reaction between N-acetyl-L-glutamic acid and 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-oxypyridine in the presence of a solvent followed by crystallization, wherein an azeotropic mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water is used as the solvent, and crystallization is conducted in acetone environment. The method permits increasing the yield of 6-methyl-2-ethylpyridine-3-ol salt of (2S)-2-acetaminopentanedioic acid in its production.
