The present invention relates to a cup for femoral joint prosthesis comprising a hollow hull (10) of hemispherical general shape of biocompatible material having a concave inner face (20) intended to receive a fixed or mobile prosthetic insert and a convex outer face (30) shaped to be anchored in an acetabular cavity of a patient's pelvis to be secured to the bone tissue constituting said cavity, characterized in that said outer face (30) of the shell (10) is coated with least two layers (32,34) of osteocompatible material, a first circumferential layer of coating (32) disposed at or near a polar portion (31) of the shell (10) and a second circumferential layer of coating ( 34) extending the first layer (32) to near an equatorial portion (33) of the shell (10), the two coating layers (32, 34) being made of materials biocompatible with different roughness. La présente invention se rapporte à une cupule pour prothèse d'articulation fémorale comportant une coque creuse (10) de forme générale hémisphérique en matériau biocompatible présentant une face interne concave (20) destinée à recevoir un insert prothétique fixe ou mobile et une face externe convexe (30) conformée pour être ancrée dans une cavité cotyloïdienne du bassin d'un patient afin d'être solidarisée au tissu osseux constituant ladite cavité, caractérisée en ce que ladite face externe (30) de la coque (10) est revêtue d'au moins deux couches (32, 34) en matériau ostéo-compatible , une première couche circonférentielle de revêtement (32) disposée au niveau ou proche d'une partie polaire (31) de la coque (10) et une deuxième couche circonférentielle de revêtement (34) prolongeant la première couche (32) jusqu'à proximité d'une partie équatoriale (33) de la coque (10), les deux couches de revêtement (32, 34) étant réalisées dans des matériaux biocompatibles présentant des rugosités différentes.
