In a variable angle spinal screw assembly (10) a bushing (16) is positioned within the inner bore of a body member (14, 114, 214) after a screw head (20) lower rounded surface (24) is disposed upon a curvilinear interior surface (26) of the inner bore, the bushing (16) having opposed outwardly and upwardly projecting portions (70) received in a snap fitment within opposed internal recesses (72) of the inner bore, the snapped-in bushing being configured to provide a downward pressure onto the screw head (20) to create a biased frictional engagement between the lower rounded surface (24) and the curvilinear interior surface (26).
