In an process for creating a three-dimensional effect on a product a plastic material is extruded through an orifice (41) in a die plate (34) of an extruder and then worked by one or more moving parts, especially blades (8a) with parallel main faces (8b), mounted on a rotating shaft (37') and running in a plane parallel to the die plate. While moving transversely across the extrudate the moving part (8a) applies an additive to enhance and add realism to the appearance of the extrudate surface. Process equipment comprises an extruder with a die plate (34) parallel to one or more rotating blades (8a) with parallel main faces (8b) and an additive applicator, at least part of which is mounted on the blade (8a) moving across the die plate.
