Disclosed is a target for a neutron generator and the method of manufacturing the same. The target for a neutron generator emitting the proton beam accelerated by an accelerator onto a target material Lithium, and generating neutrons via the reaction of 7Li(p,n)7Be, comprising: a metal substrate (52A) to hold the target material (54); and a sealing metal film (53) at the holding side (X) of the metal substrate (52A). At the holding side (X) of the metal substrate (52A), there’re: an edge frame part (52a); and a convex-concave structure, wherein the convex-concave structure has a plurality of convex portions (52b) at the inner side surrounded by the edge frame part (52a); and a concave portion thick as the target material (54) at the area other than the plurality of convex portions (52b) locate on. The surfaces of the sealing metal film (53), the edge frame part (52a) and a plurality of convex portions (52b) are undergoing the heat isostatic pressing (HIP), so that the target material (54) is sealed at the concave portion via the sealing metal film (53). The convex portion (52b) is made of lithium alloy.本發明提供一種壽命長的中子產生裝置用標靶及其製造方法。該中子產生裝置係將由加速器所加速後之質子束照射於作為靶材的鋰,並藉由7Li(p,n)7Be反應使其產生中子;該中子產生裝置用標靶係具備:金屬基板(52A),係保持靶材(54);以及密封金屬薄膜(53),係位在保持靶材(54)之保持面側(X)。在金屬基板(52A)之保持面側(X)係具有:緣框部(52a);以及浮凸構造,係在由緣框部(52a)所包圍之內側餘留複數個島部(52b),並將緣框部(52a)及複數個島部(52b)以外之其他的區域形成為被減薄至靶材(54)之厚度量的凹部。密封金屬薄膜(53)、和緣框部(52a)及複數個島部(52b)之表面進行熱均壓(HIP)接合,而靶材(54)藉由密封金屬薄膜(53)而被密封於凹部。島部(52b)係可以由鋰合金所構成。
