The present invention relates to a control system based on an electric wheelchair and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the system includes: a motion sensing unit which is mounted onto a joystick of the electric wheelchair and senses the movement of the joystick in accordance with a gesture a position sensing unit which is mounted on the electric wheelchair and senses the position of the electric wheelchair and a user terminal which uses the sensed posture of the electric wheelchair and sensed movement of the joystick to transmit extracted control signals of a control target device to the control target device.
