This invention relates to brown algae oligosaccharide extracted from brown algae useful for inhibiting differentiation of osteoclast. The extract can effectively reduce number and activity of osteoclast. If osteoclast is over-activated, decomposition rate of bone tissue by osteoclast will be increased, resulting in insufficient bone mass and causing fracture. In addition, with the increase of average life span, diseases associated with reduced bone mass have an increasing trend. The extract of this invention may inhibit differentiation of osteoclast and be useful as reference of skeleton-related healthy food additive.本發明是一種萃取自褐藻的褐藻低聚糖,可用於抑制破骨細胞分化,該萃取物可有效減少破骨細胞數目與該細胞活性。破骨細胞若過度活化,骨組織被破骨細胞分解的速率會隨著增加,進而使骨量不足,而引起骨折。另外,隨著平均壽命的增加,因骨量的減少,而所引起的骨骼相關疾病亦有增加的趨勢。本萃取物會抑制破骨細胞分化,可做為骨骼相關保健食品添加物的參考。
