PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oral cavity composition for the prevention and removal of dental plaque, the prevention and dissolution of dental calculus, and the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases.
SOLUTION: The tree, branch, twig or leaf of a tree of the family Sciadopityaceae is extracted with water or an organic solvent and the extract is used as an active component of the oral cavity composition for the prevention and removal of dental plaque, the prevention and dissolution of dental calculus, and the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases. The extract can be used in the form of gel (paste) or solid as well as liquid and is usable also as an additive for pharmaceutical preparation, sanitary agent, food and fancy food.
