PURPOSE: An eco-friendly blossom thinner using a low concentration lime-sulphur mixture is provided to show stable blossom thinning effect even using low concentration lime-sulphur mixture and to lower the concentration of lime and sulphur in the lime-sulphur mixture, thereby completely protecting flower visiting insects and resolving apple russeting. CONSTITUTION: A blossom thinner contains a low concentration lime-sulphur mixture which is prepared by dissolving 100-160 g of sulphur and 60-100 g of lime in 1 L of water while the sulphur and the lime are mixed in a ratio of 1.8:1-1.5:1 and diluting the prepared crude lime-sulphur solution in water. The minus oxidation-reduction potential of the low concentration lime-sulphur mixture is 400 or greater. A method for blossom thinning comprises the step of treating apple trees with the lime-sulphur mixture once or more during a blooming period.
