PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair lifting/lowering device which can be used in both cases when a backrest is required for a seated person and when a seated person wishes to put down his/her body rearward with respect to a seating position.SOLUTION: A chair lifting/lowering device 1 of the invention includes: a chair member 2 a lifting/lowering mechanism 3 lifting/lowering the chair member 2 a guide member 4 guiding the chair member 2 in being lifted/lowered a backrest member 5 extending to a rear side on the chair member 2 a support member 6 supporting the backrest member 5 and a rotation member 9 rotating the backrest member 5 with respect to the support member 6.
