PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bed assist configured to hold and restrain a rotary handrail part in the suspended state, to make the rotary handrail part rotatable upward in being held horizontal toward the inner side of a bed, or to hold and restrain the rotary handrail part in being held horizontal toward the outer side of the bed.SOLUTION: The bed assist is composed of a base to be inserted into/attached to the bed and the rotary handrail part rotatably attached to the base via a rotating mechanism. A vertical base pipe is erected on the base, and a base pawl constituting the rotating mechanism is attached to the upper end of the base pipe. A bar pawl constituting the rotating mechanism is attached to the proximal end of a bar pipe of the rotary handrail part. Rotation of the rotary handrail part is restrained when the rotary handrail part is suspended and when the rotary handrail part is horizontal toward the outer side of the bed by the engagement of the pawls and the latching of a restraining plate with a restraining bolt attached to a bar support pin.
