If a preconfigured permission condition is satisfied in a state in which the vehicle is stopped by the driver operating the brake pedal, the engine installed in the vehicle is automatically stopped; while the engine is automatically stopped, when vehicle stop-maintaining control is exerted for generating a braking force capable of maintaining the stopped state of the vehicle even if brake operation is reduced, then, if the parking brake is activated, notification is initiated to notify the vehicle occupant of ignition information indicating that the vehicle ignition switch is in an ON state.
