WATER RESISTANT COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING A HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUND AND A COMPOUND HAVING AT LEAST ONE FUNCTIONAL GROUP CHOSEN FROM AN AMINO GROUP AND A HYDROXYL GROUP
The present invention is directed to water-resistant compositions comprising: a reaction product of at least one heterocyclic compound chosen from lactone compounds and their thiocarbonyl analogs, thiolactone compounds and their thiocarbonyl analogs, and lactam compounds and their thiocarbonyl analogs and at least one compound having at least one functional group chosen from an amino group and a hydroxyl group and optionally, at least one carrier. These water-resistant compositions are capable of providing or acting as a carrier for delivering benefits to various substrates, for example, keratinous substrates such as skin and hair, while at the same time, imparting durable or long lasting hydrophobicity and/or a protective barrier onto said substrates.
